Building a grant annex without burying the aims

Funder calls reward completeness and punish fog. Teams respond by attaching every letter of support they can gather. During a grant proposal line audit we count annexes against the call’s ceiling, then ask whether each attachment is named in the narrative.

An orphan annex — present in the zip file, never referenced — rarely helps. Worse is a budget table that disagrees with the prose about staff time. We read those two pages together before we touch the eloquence of the aims statement.

If your call uses a portal with mandatory filename patterns, copy those patterns exactly. Renaming later under deadline pressure is how versions drift.
