Read the requirement list like a first screener
How we mark mandatory versus optional enclosures when auditing an application packet against the institution’s own wording.
Most applicants skim a requirement page for nouns — transcript, statement, photo — and start collecting. During an audit of applications we read the verbs and the footnotes first. “Must be issued within three months” changes which transcript copy is safe. “May include” is not the same as “should include for competitive consideration,” even when both appear in the same PDF.
We print or save the list on the day the client books, because university pages quietly replace photo sizes and form version codes. If your packet was assembled from a bookmark you opened in autumn, reopen the live page before you ask anyone to review.
When two documents seem to cover the same item — for example a CV and a prescribed employment history form — we ask which one the checklist names. Submitting both without a note can look careless; submitting only the friendlier one can look incomplete.
If you want this pass done for you, the submission checklist audit is built for exactly that inventory work.
